I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a "Happy New Year" and to say that it is only 6 months away until the "2nd Annual All Alumni Family Day". I am hoping that we will also have a live band this year, I will have more information within the next couple weeks.  I certainly hope that this year will be bigger and better and hope that classes will contact their own members and spread the word.  Once again contact me for any ideas. I have recently spoken to a graduate of the class of 1938, Helen (Cowley) Davis, and she will be joining us and celebrating her 85 birthday, which is July 15th. Thanks for your interest - Monroe

Monday March 6, 2006

I would like to welcome Glen Millen, member of the class of 1970, to our committee.  Glen will certainly bring along with him, excitement and enthusiasm. I am hoping to ask Glen to contact graduates from the 70's in an attempt to involve those classmates in some sort of fund raiser. Perhaps a dunk tank or some other sort of event to make the Family Day more exciting and fun. Again, anyone interested in helping, contact any of the above mentioned members. Keep in mind, it's only 4 months away.  Thanks for your interest - Monroe

Monday April 17, 2006

I would like to inform one and all that we will be having a local band at our "Family Day".  Rick Krimer (71), Brian Blose and Tim Benyo, graduates of Lehighton, have a band, "Last Hoorah" (www.lasthoorah.net), and they have donated their talents for the day. I hope that the band will play from about 6:00 until 8:00 PM.  I would also like to see some class, to step up, and sponsor a "dunk tank", to be used as a fund raiser. Any interested class, please contact me.  Once again, get the word out, July 15, 2006, "2nd Annual All Alumni Family Day".  Next year the date will be July 21, 2007, start planning ahead. Thanks again - Monroe

Sunday May 28, 2006

I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank all the veterans for making this the best country in the world to live in, thank you for the special work you do and have done.  Also a very special thanks to Edward and Trudie (Kostenbader) Powell for their $200.00 donation towards the expenses of the Family Day Celebration.  Trudie is a member of the 1967 Graduating Class of Lehighton and presently lives in the Coopersburg area. A little update: The 6 foot gas grille was reserved and will once again be available for everyone to use. Congratulations to "Last Hoorah" for their participation in the Hawk 99.9 Showcase fund raiser May 20th at the Main Gate in Allentown.  I would still like to see some class get together and rent a "dunk tank" for the Family Day. Keep in mind there are only 47 days until the "2nd Annual All Alumni Family Day".  Contact someone who you know wasn't at the party last year and hope to see you all soon.  Thanks again - Monroe

Thursday July 6, 2006

I would like to take this opportunity to wish the people at the Orioles Park, much luck and best wishes, as well as a speedy rebuilding of the outside area. I am very sorry to hear about the fire.  We will be returning to the Orioles as soon as the rebuilding is completed.

As for our "2nd Annual All Alumni Family Day", July 15, 2006.  We will be at the "Memorial Park" in Jim Thorpe.  We will have the area that is called the "Beer Garden" and the "Block Building."  This is the area that is on 10th Street and is the closest to the High School.  We will also have the "Band Shell Area" that will be available for "Last Hoorah" to set up any time they would like.  We will have the big grill and some area for horse shoes. Times will remain the same, starting at 12:00 noon and going to about 8:00 PM.  I will have music all day and the band should start about 6:00 PM and play until about 8:00 PM.  Any questions, contact me at 610-867-5002, Thanks again - Monroe

Sunday July 16, 2006

As for the "2nd Annual All Alumni Family Day", July 15, 2006.  Everybody had many reasons not to show up for the "Cause" and many people found those reasons and did not show up.  Attendance was poor, weather was poor, and I am sure the fact that we were in Jim Thorpe, was a big reason to choose not to support the cause. I am aware of the fact that some people had responsibilities and that is fine, however, maybe we can make this "Annual All Alumni Family Day" a responsibility and include part of this day to help support the cause. I would like to thank the "Alumni" that did find a reason to show up. Remember the reason for this "Annual Event" is to support the cause. The cause is very simple, the showing of support for Lehighton High School and the Students.  The support was minimal this year, however we did have several people attend that were not in attendance last year.  We have some great suggestions and ideas and hope to start committee work real soon. It will get better and we will be back at the Orioles Park next year, with a more involved agenda.  Please keep in touch with this web site and tell other classmates about the "3rd Annual All Alumni Family Day", July 21, 2007. I will post a financial statement soon, however the bottom line is we experienced a lost this year. I would like to again thank Edward and Trudie (Kostenbader) Powell for their $200.00 donation towards the expenses of the Family Day, without this we would really be in bad shape. Anyone that is interested in any donations, please e-mail me (aemobiledj@verizon.net) or call 610-867-5002, we will send you a receipt for your taxes.  See you all later - Monroe

Thursday May 10, 2006

There is going to be a "BIG" change in the "3rd Annual Alumni Family Day" and all of the information will be posted as soon as we can make the final arrangements. We are trying to set things up for the Saturday after the Home Coming Game. I do apologize for the inconvenience, however check back later or e-mail me at (aemobiledj@verizon.net). Thanks Monroe!

The "3rd Annual Alumni Family Day" is going to see a “BIG CHANGE” and all of the information was posted above. We were setting things up for the Friday Night, after the Homecoming Game. Tim Markley (graduate of Lehighton) and Lisa have been gracious enough to open the Gallo's Pub doors to us, so that we have a place to have this post-game fellowship and dancing. I strongly suggested that you should check out the "New Flagstaff". I do apologize for the inconvenience, however we are trying to find a time and place that we can once again get back on track with our program. The first year at the Orioles Park, we had a very successful day and we all know what happened last year. Well, we have made a bigger change for the good of the program and that change is: Starting next year (2008), we will be having the "4th Annual All Alumni Family Day", on Saturday after the Friday Night Homecoming Football Game. What this means is, you could be going to the Indians Homecoming Game and also attend the 4th Annual All Alumni Family Day all in the same Homecoming and Alumni Day Weekend”.

Sunday June 8, 2008 - “Homecoming and Alumni Day Weekend 2008" - Update

Once again, there is going to be that change in the format for the "4th Annual Alumni Family Day". We are attempting to find the best time for the most people and awaiting the return of the Orioles Park 2009. It will be Saturday, after the Friday Night Lehighton Homecoming Game. I will be sending out an e-mail and or mailer as soon as we finalize the place and time. Hang in there - it will get better !! Thanks Monroe!
